Deutsche Telekom is Germany’s largest telecommunications company and the dominant provider of fixed-line, broadband, and mobile services across the country. Operating the Telekom (Magenta) brand for consumers, it offers mobile, DSL, cable, and fibre internet packages alongside TV streaming and smart home services.

For expats in Germany, Telekom is the gold standard for network reliability — its mobile network has the widest geographic coverage in the country, including rural areas where other providers may have gaps. This makes Telekom the preferred choice for those who travel frequently within Germany or live outside major urban centres.

Telekom offers a range of consumer mobile tariffs (MagentaMobil) and home internet packages (MagentaZuhause), as well as bundled offers combining mobile, broadband, and TV. Customer service is available in German with English assistance increasingly available at major retail stores.

The Telekom website and app support full self-service account management. Telekom shops are found in every major German city, and contract sign-up typically requires a German address (Anmeldung) and ID. Prepaid options (MagentaMobil Prepaid) are available for those who have not yet registered an address.
